Chatting about death and what comes next.
Me : What do you think there is after we die?
Harald : Good, hmmm not like answering what I had for breakfast... but I'm not so sure, that's maybe why I try not to think too much of it. But of course I hope my spirit/soul or whatever people wanna call it lives on. Something else is very scary to me. I knew a Chrisna Monk when I was younger (a dad of a friend), he told me that you will become what you think most of in your life, so if you only think of money, you will end up as one. But if you think of something nice, then you will end up as that. I think it stroke me as a good philosophy but I know I and everyone else has a soul and it is not something material, hence it cannot die in the same way as a body. What do you really believe in ?
Me : Body and soul are two different things.
Harald : Life after death?
Me : Yes, reincarnation. I mean our soul is what we become during a life and it couldn't magically disappear like that. No more Harald, eveything of him is destroyed. Otherwise our lives would be so useless (except for the people who made big things). You're somehow still living in the air or someone else's body.
Harald : But it is maybe a long stretch and a bit too much to hope for. And what do you think about the lines between feelings and soul ?
Me : We're so ignorant and miserable but it's a good theory to believe in. I think we all need something to believe in, for living better, like knowing what comes next when we die. I'm not into religion at all. I hate all that bullshit but when it comes to death, I could be irrationnal. I'm starting to think about something good now, just like your friend's dad said.
I think that everything which involves body, like heart, kidney, blood, the very physical things are the body contributions and it's all gone, eatten by the worms or burnt. But all the feelings you felt, the knowledge you got even from/by your body become a part of your soul, because it's what you are and it keeps you alive. They're related to your inner soul even if it involved your body AT FIRST.
Harald : Me neither, religion is just a set of rules to make you behave, but belief is the important piece. That's maybe why it is so popular.
Me : People who are religious need something to teach them and some rules in their life because they're not able to play life by their own rules. Someone to give them support and it is understandable, the world can be rough sometimes.
Harald : Aww we have a positive view of death, that's cool. There will always be Harald and Donnia, for eternity.
